Riding Lessons

8 a.m.–5 p.m., Tuesday–Sunday
We offer half-hour and hour-long lessons for students of all ages and levels: beginner riders, pleasure riders, and competitive riders. Throughout the lessons, our instructors provide a careful evaluation of the client's riding level. Students will ride for the full scheduled time and are welcome to arrive early, tack up and put the horse away after the lesson. We provide an outstanding group of lesson horses and ponies for client use.

We offer opportunities to ride indoors or outdoors. Enjoy our 105’ x 235’ outdoor arena when the sun shines. Inside, find a heated barn, a 100’ x 225’ arena  and -- coming this summer -- a new 100’ x 200’ hunter/ jumper arena. All have dust-free, TravelRight footing. Boarders are welcome to ride three miles of groomed trails on our farm property.

Pony Camp

9 a.m.–1 p.m., Tuesday–Friday, July & August
Get a leg up on fun with week-long sessions for children ages 6 and older. Learn horsemanship, play games, and gain lifetime memories. Daily, private half-hour lessons and a Friday trail ride are included, all supervised by our Canterbury trainers. We have a classroom where we teach the students weekly horsemanship topics. Class limit is six students per trainer and assistant.

Showing & Competitions

Ready to step out of the arena and compete? We offer local and recognized show opportunities in hunter/jumper and dressage.  Let our instructors and expert visiting clinicians polish your skills. Our riders compete successfully at local and rated shows including HITS/Saugerties, Lamplight, and Devon.

After-School Programs

3 p.m.–6 p.m., Monday–Friday, throughout the school year
Our after-school program combines fun and learning in a structured, safe environment. We supervise homework and provide healthy snacks in classes of no more than 10 students under the eye of experienced Canterbury trainers. Hands-on, experienced and professional instruction will provide the perfect after-school experience for your horse-loving child, and provide you with peace of mind. Instruction is conducted in our on-site classroom connected to the barn. Private horseback riding lessons can be incorporated into the program based on barn lesson availability. Cazenovia school district students can be delivered to the program in a Canterbury vehicle.

The Wizard of Canterbury

Spend a half-hour with The Wizard, our computerized horse, and experience a lesson where the rider only has to concentrate on one thing: their own balance, position and technique. The ultimate schoolmaster, Wizard replicates the movement and response of a real 15.2 hand horse. The computerized horse is capable of doing advanced movements, but is also programmed for beginners. The Wizard is fully interactive: A screen displays a show ring or cross-country course, the rider controls the horse, the screen displays the results, and the computerized diagnostic is available to take home.
